Cheshire Explorer Scouts
Do more. Share more. Be more.
We are proud to be the fourth section of the Scout family for young people aged 14-18. Cheshire currently hosts over 1,000 Explorer Scouts in over 45 units who have gained some incredible life-shaping experiences through scouting. We are also proud to host an evolving Cheshire Young Leader scheme. By following an inclusive and youth-led programme, Explorers are encouraged to challenge themselves, do their best and be themselves through an exciting time of their lives.
We are delighted to share some exciting news, vital links and new resources with you here. Enjoy discovering the web pages and get involved with as much as you can.

Our BTEC Hub
Open up horizons.
Unlock your potential.
We are excited to continue our partnership with CVQO, which will see
young people aged 16-19 gain a BTEC Level 2 qualification in Teamwork and Personal Development in the coming months. This will be part of a programme to help young people receive recognition for their hard work and dedication to developing skills for life throughout their participation in the Scout movement.

Promise To The Planet
Act now. Change tomorrow.
By 2023, all Cheshire Groups and Units will have achieved or completed an environmental project or taken climate action, impacting their local community in a fun, inclusive and youth-led manner.
We would like every Group and Unit in Cheshire to undertake an environmental project or take local climate action in 2022. This could be as inspiring as a youth-led discussion about global issues or as epic as building a conservation garden in your local area.
3, 2, 1… Blast off!
The countdown to Cheshire’s space-themed International Jamboree has begun! Run ever four years, Chamboree attracts over 5,000 Scouts and Guides from all over Cheshire. Tatton showground buzzes with excitement and activity and Explorer Scouts get to camp on their own separate subcamp and engage in a jam-packed week of activities, events and challenges.
The Chamboree Programme Team have put some activities together to get you excited for the big event! We’ve recommended the age range suitability of an activity, but don’t hesitate to check out the activities and their suitability for your programme! To help leaders we’ve provided links to the Scout & Guide badges.
If you’ve got any more ideas to offer, we’d love to hear from you. Share them by emailing our Chamboree Programme Team.

25 World Scout Jamboree
Think big. Dream wild. Act together
In Summer 2023, more than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world (72 Explorers from Cheshire) will gather in Korea for the 25 World Scout Jamboree. The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is a World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) event, it happens every four years, each time hosted by a different country. We’re so proud that thousands of UK young people aged 14 to 17 and their leaders will travel to South Korea and we’ll call ourselves the UK Contingent.
Our Contingent are more than just travel buddies, they are planners, fundraisers, motivators and mentors. We’ve got a lot to achieve in a short time but we’ll leap at the challenge as we… Think big. Dream wild. Act Together.
We don’t just dream. We act.
We dream about a sustainable world, where everyone’s welcome. But we’re not just about dreaming, Scouts want to see action too. Our UK Contingent won’t silently creep round global issues, we’ll be trailblazers for getting young voices heard…you’re gonna hear us roar. We know that dreams come true when we work together.
Cheshire Explorer Belt 2023

It is your opportunity to take part in an exciting expedition that brings you a real understanding of a different country, its culture and way of life.
As part of a small team, you will undertake a 10-day expedition outside of the UK with a minimum travelling time of 50 hours over the 10 days, by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.
You will plan your own route, meals, accommodation and even budget. Also as part of the award, you will complete one major discovery project and ten minor projects along the way.
